My name is Mr. Freudenburg, which is a German name that means "Happy Castle." That's what I want my classroom to be: a big, happy castle of learning, growing, and relating with each other. The castle is full of mysterious rooms and nooks that we explore together and discover all kinds of fascinating mathematical concepts.
Learning mathematics is much like being on a sports team. The coach might begin a practice by outlining a new play or technique. But the players have to spend time practicing to perfect the skill. I think of myself as a "Math Team" coach. My students are my players. I organize my classes as "practices" where we review skills, learn new skills, and keep practicing old skills. The goal is to be able to perform well on our quizzes, tests, and final exams which I think of as scrimmages, games, and playoffs.
If you're reading this, you are probably one of my students or a parent. You are all valuable members of the team. Welcome to the Happy Castle of Mathematics! We'll have a great year together.
